It was nothing but trouble. I would have sent it back, but I threw out the package. BIG mistake. The first time I went to connect it to my iPod, one of the plastic holders broke off. Then the side holders would not fit close enough to hold the iPod securely in place. When it was plugged in there was a hissing sound, even when I followed all of the troubleshooting ideas. When I decided I could deal with all of that, it turns out that the holder kept rotating in the electrical outlet, and since the iPod wasn't held securely in place it flipped out and was scratched. I finally decided that maybe if I could take off the holder and put it on backwards it wouldn't rotate anymore. Well, that wasn't a good idea because as soon as I tried to do that I ripped the wire out of the FM transmitter. It is now in the trash.Rating: 1 / 5

I purchased this FM transmitter after reading all of the great reviews. It was nothing but trouble. I ordered it for my iPhone 3G and just spent about 45 minutes tinkering with this.

PROS :

1. Once you get it adjusted to a good station the sound quality is pretty impressive when playing music.

CONS :

1. This thing is really too heavy for an iPhone as it creates too much pull on the cigarette lighter. In turn, you will end up having to adjust it all the time if going down a bumpy road.

2. It does not automatically shut off when you turn off the ignition.

3. I spent over 30 minutes trying to get the hands free phone feature to work. The iPhone was on full bars and 4/5 times when I test called from my house line the iphone wouldn't even ring and go straight to voice mail. When it did answer, the music would turn down as advertised, but couldn't hear anything on either the iPhone or the land based phone.

4. Even without a skin on the iPhone, it is a pain in the butt to disconnect the bottom cable from the iPhone.

In conclusion, this would make a great cradle and charger for an iPod, but, unless you have a lot of room in your vehicle (I have a small truck) there is really no place to store it when not in use. However, if your planning a long road trip, and it stays in place, this is a great gadget, again for an iPod.

I would defiantly NOT recommend this for an iPhone and intend on returning mine for a simple fm transmitter (or just buy an ipod) for playing music and just using my iPhone as a hand held phone or with my bluetooth headset.

Tip: If your getting static when playing music, make sure to turn up the volume on your iPod or iPhone. Also, tune your radio to the lowest frequency for best results.Rating: 2 / 5

I was really excited to get this in the mail today. Although it wasnt expected to have a CD Sound quality, it's pretty much as close as it's going to get. The design is also impressive, cradle works really well and its cool how it has the "lock/Unlock button on the side.

Definitely a convenient and reliable unit in the car.Rating: 5 / 5

This has turned out to be a great unit. That said I live in a rural area with a lot of hills, and between a couple large cities. If I where in the LA area or even out of the mountain area where I live it might work fine. So please take that into consideration.Rating: 3 / 5

I might not be the best to review this unit as it seems that most people have great results with it, but in my case I get a lot of white noise, and the transmitter will start to scan while I drive, making it a hassle to keep the MP3 player on.
