I have used a couple radio transmitters for listening to my iPod. One was a Belkin that couldn’t compete with radio station signals very well and periodically crashed (had to remove from lighter power to use again). This device works great and has no interference from radio stations. You get four choices of frequency on which to use. It was easy to install and use once I understood how to remove my existing radio and what the Ford wiring color scheme meant. It works so great that I may need to get a second one for my wife’s vehicle.
The Alpine DPRRDS1 works great for playing music/podcasts/etc on ipods and iphones, but don’t have this installed if you’re a fan of am radio. The am college radio station that I listen to all the time is pure static now.
I thought about having Car Toys uninstall to get back my am reception, but I already paid $100 in labor charges for them to put it in my car!
I had a wireless transmitter for my Ipod from a major respected brand. Not good at all. Quality of music was not so good and travelling was a nightmare. Every few kilometers and some new radio interference would come forcing me to try another frequency. This product works great. It is small enough to be hidden behind the original radio, it automatically turns on and off the ipod and keeps it charged. Sound quality is significantly better than the FM transmitter and there is no inteference whatsoever even though it is still using the radio antena to communicate with the original radio. If you don’t want to buy an aftermaket sound equipment in order not to loose the built in fuctions of the radio that came with your car, this is the device for you.
