This product is maybe good sound-wise, but user experience is the worst I’ve seen so far in any car radio.
Just to many things to mention, but let’s try:
- I think this is a bug and can be fixed by a firmware update, but still very annoying: screen-saver cannot be turned off… so the display starts dancing automatically after 30s or so… you cannot see which song is playing currently and what’s more to increase the volume from the remote control, the first press will only turn off the screen saver and won’t actually increase the volume
- the button positions on the front panel is so ridiculous it’s quite unbelievable, really…. to do even simple stuff, you have to constantly think and you jump from one side of the panel to another… they probably thought hard about how to increase the distance travelled by fingers and time spent so you can crash more easily while changing the album. Also the buttons for up, down, left and right are so tiny and close to the “source” change that you will often switch from a MMC or CD to Tuner because of imprecise button presses (not your fault!)
- The commands are not deterministic… so the NEXT button (the name is silly and off) that shows you the browsing menu sometimes doesn’t even work… it just doesn’t
then you switch to the tuner and come back and then it works…. but once inside a songs menu, there is no way to come back… so you’re stuck on the menu instead of seeing the song played..
- Guys tried extra hard on this:
when you choose a song from the album, ti brings it to the top of the list… actually if anything, this is very annoying because you lookse track about which song have you already checked and wasn’t right… so instead of moving though a few songs easily, the menu changes on the fly to make everything harder.
- Nightime dim mode doesn’t seem to work… could be my found here, not sure… and won’t try to find out, because the rest is so crappy.
- the remote control is utter crap, because the buttons are tiny and it just doesn’t feel right.
- You would think that they remembered to use the volume control knob for easy navigation on the song list for example… they didn’t! you have to use direction buttons
that are, as said before, ridiculously tiny and close to the source and some other button..and the arrangement wins too! on the left you have up and down and on the right you have LEFT button on top and RIGHT under it… and that help a lot in being confused when you try to move around various lists.
A prime example of interface design STUPIDITY.
And I’m not angry because I bought it.. I didn’t … just rented it to try it out… I’m mad because today no serious product should afford to come out completely misaligned with basic UI design guidelines and common sense….
Now.. my review probably has some grammatical errors, but that’s only because I don’t feel like investing even more time into this…
just stay away from this please…
