I was about to place an order for the Eclipse CD-7100 when I noticed Alpine’s iDA-X001. Which one is better and why? Are there any other good quality ipod compatible decks (preferably ones where I don’t have to buy an additional component, such as is the case with the Eclipse). Only looking for single DIN size.

The Alpine one is really good. It has more options, wider Freq. range, and it’s really heavy duty.

Will I most likely achieve some pretty loud bass If I paired an Alpine amp rated at 600W RMS @ 4 Ohms (1000W RMS @ 2 Ohms) with 2 12″ Memphis M3 MOJO’s? If I bought these I was going to have them hooked up for the 1000W RMS @ 2 Ohms.

mojos need 1000 wats a piece so ur going to really underpower it if u had just one mojo that amp would do fine but idk i would get 2 amp then then ull BE SLAMMIN HARD…500 each will be ok but u wnt each scratch the potential of them

My lights dim when the bass hits and im sure it isnt a good thing for my car. Will that capacitor fix the problem and be good quality?
on ebay its only like 65$ so im fine gettin it. it looks good too lol. is it a bad thing to get too strong of one?

it will most definately fix it. however, you only need .5 farad per 500 watts. so you are overexaggerating by 4 farads. It wont hurt anything but you could go smaller like a 1.5 farad.

**EDIT: Not at all. you can get that cap and be just fine. it might actually help your car out if you have higher powered headlights and a lower quality alternator. it will make the alternator last longer too and keep the strain off your battery.

MAKE SURE YOU CHARGE THE CAP WITH THE RESISTER SUPPLIED IN THE PACKAGE OR YOU CAN BBLOW THE CAP. keep a fire extinguisher near by just in case. good luck hope it sounds good.

well i would say the jl’s. but that’s because ive always had jl. but ive heard alot of great things about the type r’s. its pretty much your choice. if you want to save some space go with the jl if not go with type r’s. both brands are good.

So I have about $ 950 and I want one sub, some component speakers, and amps for each. What can I buy that is decent on my budget and is also a good quality speaker? Also amps, there are soooo many amps out there and I have no idea where to start, so some suggestions on amps would be appreciated. If anyone has a system that they’re happy with let me know what you have.

This is right up my alley.
Recently, I got a sound system in my car.
Two Alpine Type R’s in a customized ported box, powered by a excellon amp, made by kenwood.
All came to 850… oh yeah and i got LOC and amp kit, along with a new battery.
YOU WILL NEED A NEW BATTERY LIKELY AND/OR NEW ALTERNATOR.
Your car is probably not going to be able to keep pace with the souns system.
I found out the hard way.
My car died on me lol. So I went back and got a Bosch battery, 1000 RCA
which is 450 more then my previous battery. Also, I purchased a capacitor to make sure none of this **** would happen again.

I have a 1995 Cutlass Supreme Convertible and i was wondering if i could put 2 6 1/2 alpine type s Component systems in the front and back with no subs and still make it sound good or is it better to have the Components just in the front and just the speakers by itself without the tweeters in the back please help only serious advice thank you

well component speakers are more for the front, but i had a friend that had a 2004 jetta and it had stock components in the front and back and it sounded really nice, the problem, if you instal component speakers in the back, the speakers need to be in the door or somewhere like that, if you put them in the back window they will not be facingf twards your ears which defeats the purpose of them,

Upgrading Alpine Car Audio Sytem.?

Hey, I just bought a BMW with a custom alpine system in it. I’v noted the components it has. I am completely unsatisfied with clarity, loudness, and bass. I’m looking to upgrade it.

Heres what it has:

- Alpine Media Xpander CDA-9811
- Alpine Vpower Mono MRP-M350 Amp
- Alpine Powerv12 2/1 Channel MRV-T320
- 1 12″ Type R Alpine Woofer.
- 4 Type R (what look to be 5″ish circular speakers)

What areas are lacking, and how can I improve it? I’m willing to spend 1000$ .

you should have said what parts your unhappy with. if your unhappy with the speaker sound upgrade the speakers, if your unhappy with the bass upgrade the sub.
if your unhappy with the speaker sound switch to infinity. very clear and loud. what is the 2channel amp running? switch to a 4channel amp and run the speakers off that. make sure to match up the rms of the speakers with the amp so you dont overpower and blow them.

This is my new system… all alpine type R stuff.. couple of subs 6’5 splits in front and 6 b 9s in back… this isnt turned up as loud as it can go i forgot to put the sub level up. this is on about 10. goes to 15…. farad capictor and heaps of neons… soz about the neons my camera didnt realy pick up them to well… they are heaps brighter in real life. Rockford Fosgate has really nice sound quality but they are kinda price. I have 2 kickers that would be better if i was pushing more than 500 watts to them. But if you dont care about price get Rockford Fosgate P3′s.

how to let the clock on all-time in Alpine car audio receiver?

when i have the key in the ignition lock, [ and the car engine is still on running], i can see the clock even the alpine is powered off, but not so when the car is powered off [shut down].

Ok does your clock keep the correct time when you turn the radio back on after turning it off if it does good and if it does not change your acc and your contant 12 volt wire around that will fix that.Now when you scroll thru your menus it may say something like clock always on what ever botton you use to select this option may need to be held for a few seconds to confirm the setting.

I am wondering what all do i need for my car audio setup, i have currently have two type R’s with the box and an older, smaller amp for the speakers. I also have the head-unit and a V power amp for the subs.I am about to buy an Alpine type X speaker set and i dont want this system to drain my battery. Any suggestions?

Don’t mix subs types. If you want to add more subs, go with the Type Rs since that’s what you already have. Mixing sub types can have undesired affects with the way the systems sounds.

If your total system power is 1200 watts RMS or more, you will need to:

1. Upgrade the “Big 3″ – that is to replace (or add to [recommended]) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis.

2. Upgrade to a yellow top battery

3. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator

Failure to do this will result in the early death of the alternator as it will eventually fail.

A second battery is never a good idea as it’s an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second battery is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the car off.

A capacitor is only good so far as the audio system isn’t trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn’t provide more power, it’s designed to ‘stiffen’ the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current isn’t there, a cap won’t help.

The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.
