I have a JENSEN 300 WATT 2/1 Amplifier…..And I got it from my brother a WHILE ago for free. It sucks….right?

I have a very nice CD deck, a 450 dollar JVC one to be exact. And first of all, the deck isnt even picking up that I have subs….everything is plugged in right. Is it because the AMP is so old????

I need a new amp. How many watts should I get to power these 2 subs to their full potential. I havent heard them hit as hard as they should, right? Or are they just not that good of subs? Im going to get a new amp tonight…please help guys. I have very nice speakers as well. ! THANKS!

Hi everyone, i recently just purchased an upgrade on my headunit the Jensen VM9512, before i had a Sony CDX-GT510. I got the Jensen because i wanted the video screen/dvd player and the 6 channel RCA outs. I have a 15′ L7 Kicker playing off of a Kenwood KAC-X401M amp and an Alpine 4 channel MRV-F353 amp. These are playing Kicker KS 2007 model 6 and a half’s in the back and 4×6 in the front. Now here’s what the problem is, when i turn on the engine in the car i hear a small static and as i revv the engine it grows louder. however this is ONLY when the engine is on, when just the electronics are on i dont hear any static and its perfect. Also, i found that if i only use one set of RCA cables to power the 4 chan amp, and then split it with 2 spliters to fill the 4 channels i hear no static even when the car is on, but i would very much like to not use the splitters seeing as this is why i got the new headunit. Any help would be very much appreciated thanks
How about a ground loop isolator? would that help the problem? im trying to prevent going out and getting another battery but if it comes down to it i will

there may be a bad voltage regulator. it may make the battery to high. also, the alternator may be making jumps in voltage. try using a separate battery to power the stereo and charge it when you are near an outlet. they make on board chargers that allow you to just hook up an extension cord to the car to charge the battery.

my lil nephew wants to have two subs in his room but with a home stereo receiver, the brand is sherwood, just a regular a+b receiver, but he wants some jensen or dual brand subs cause they look good, but i know they suck, am not trying to hate but thats my opinion on those subs and most people know that, ok so i want to offer him to buy some other type of subs but not expensive either, and if your just going to say “its just for home use so it dont matter” or some stupid related answers just dont answer it, and i know its still gonna get the same amount of watts to it because he aint changing the receiver wich is 105 watts per channel going trough 8-ohms so each sub is gonna get 205 watts, but it still matters wich type of subs they are right? but thats cause i dont dont really like car subs in my room so i dont really care about wich brands are used for home being car subs, i only care for that in my car but he wont listen to buy a regular home sub, so wich subs you think are best?

I am thoroughly impressed with MTX and Kicker..

although I think MTX takes the cake.

I ran four kicker L7′s and just recently swapped them out for two 12″ MTX 8500′s..

Now I have room for two more mtx 8500′s but don’t need em!

Stereo: kenwood or alpine. Kenwood makes really cool looking ones that also creates good quality sound. Alpine has good sound quality too plus all there decks look the same even the relly old one so they wont ecer look out dated
Amp: rockford fosgate all the way dont let anyone else tell you different. They are quality. Build great. The companys been around for a hundred somthig years and they arethe loudest. A 500 watt rockford vs say a 500 watt kenwood would blow it away
Subs: kicker makes a really good sub. They are tight and great sounding. Rockford has great subs too. Theres are used alot for compotitions

1.) would i be able to hook up a BOSS AUDIO AVA-1204 or BOSS AUDIO EG1208 equalizer to a JENSEN VM9311TS or JENSEN 9312HD in dash dvd player.

2.) also would i be able to hook up a woofer to a different brand amplifer. along with anything else that is a different brand.

3.) is a crossover a part that you hook speakers into so they can hook into the in dash dvd cd player. if so would you only need one if the cd player does not come with one, or would you need one anyways.

i am just trying to get familiar with the parts and how they go together.

1) yess, but boss and jensen are both garbage, your lucky if you get a year of good use
2) absolutly, u need to match RMS watts (not max), and resistance (ohms)
3) a crossover is a device that splits frequecies, or gets rid of uneeded/damaging frequencies. For instance, a pair of component speakers is a tweeter a crossover and a woofer, both woofer and tweeter wire to the crossover, where it splits high frequencies to the tweeter, and low frequecies to the woofer (passive crossover) active crossovers generally are used for subwoofer amps that dont have low pass filters, in which case a speaker level in (20-20,000hz) goes in, and it takes 20-100 (depending of course) hz and sends only that to the subwoofer amp

Hi, im currently looking to take the next step with my car audio and im currently looking to purchase a high quality amp (and subs) that can put out 2000 watts or more and subs that can handle 750-1500 watts RMS. Im not talking about Sony, or Jensen or stuff you can find at the local best buy, I want the real deal stuff like JL, Kicker, Cadence etc. Preferably Class D Mono amps and 1 ohm capable subs, but any and all information will be appreciated! Look to CEA-2006 complaint amps for correct power ratings. Subs that have a sensitivivity of 91dB or higher will perfrom very well with less power.

It’s not so much about brand as it’s about the quality of said brand. Each brand has their own high and low end products.

Because of so many opinions on what the better brands are, your best bet is to go to local audio shops and grab a listen. Only you know what you like.

Some hidden costs you may not be aware of…

If your total system power is a 1500 watts RMS or more you may need to:

1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator
2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery
3. Upgrade the “Big 3″ – that is to replace (or add to) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis with at least 2 AWG wire.

Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.

You’ll need Microsft Excel to use it. If you don’t have Excel, use this link http://www.box.net/shared/nkkw1dhk4g

A second battery is never a good idea as it’s just an added strain on the alternator unless you plan on running the system with the engine off.

A cap is only good so far as the audio system isn’t trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn’t provide more power, it’s designed to ‘stiffen’ the voltage to the amp, nothing esle. If the current isn’t there, a cap won’t help.

My right channel went out on my car, as well as the sub woofer output has decreased a lot because everything in car audio has a right and left. this is also effected the suboowfer output. Is it the deck?
Im not sure what happened. I am running a jensen amp for mids and highs, it lights up fine.. pioneer headunit and 18″ fi btl

have you checked the fuses? a lot of the time a fuse can blow and cause your car to decrease sound output. if its not the fuses, your headunit got too hot and melted some of the mosfet chips. i run a sony explode headunit, alpine type S door and rear dash speakers, and 2 kicker cvr 12′s being pushed by a 1.2k hifonics monoblock. that setup gives mean highs and the deep bass you want, i’m hitting 133 db under the dash. but check the fuses first, then check the RCA’s, then check to see if the door speakers have been blown, cause the car makes a closed circuit.

JBL does awesome amplifiers IMO…. Jensen…. yeah I wont talk about them, their speakers have always blown out within weeks at rated power…. MTX audio has great systems and are often underrated! Out of those three I’d go with MTX by far!

Also, i would definitely buy your equipment from Car Toys any day over circuit city… Would you buy a pet from a super market? no, you’d buy him from a pet store… same idea, Car Toys specializes in car ‘toys’…. if you ever had warranty work to do, i’d trust them over circuit city anyday, they obviously dont do the majority of their business in car stereos!

ALSO, do not buy car stereo (specifically subwoofers) stuff from online stores. Car Toys online is one thing, but more strictly online stores are NOT authorized retailers and manufacturers warranties are not valid when buying from online stores, at least in 90% of the companies i’ve seen.

I just installed a Jensen car CD player in my car. I have a 1995 Honda Accord. I relpaced the factory radio with this one. anyways, I had no problem connecting the correct wires from the car to the CD player cuz I had the info of the color of the wires. So I connected the speaker wires, the ground, the power and so on and so forth…the thing is, I had one extra wire from the car which was the”illumination” wire. I had no extra wire from the CD player to connect it to so i connected it to the “Power/Yellow” wire. Now my parking lights wont turn off even if i have the car off. I tried connecting the “illumination” wire to every wire on the CD player and either my parking lights wont turn off or they wont turn on…does anyone have any advice?
If i just cap off the wire it makes my parking lights and my interior lights not turn on at all…

the illumination wire is a live wire, connecting it to any wire could short out you car, or it could drain you battery. if the wire is not used in the instillation cap it off and don’t use it. I’m more familiar American cars, but some wires are always live like the 12v adapter called a cigarette lighter.

so i already know that the wires look like crap, i just threw the system back in quickly, cause i wanted some beat. as for the eclipse, i haul it off in a few days to get a new engine put in it, that shouldnt take long. so hopefully yall will see me with that eclipse soon. as for the 6x9s they didnt fit in the truck, the hole is for a 5×8 speaker. weird i know, oh well cause the 6x9s fit in the eclipse, so all is good

I have a 1997 Chevy Carmaro Z28. I just got a Jensen VM9412 DVD player, Infinity Kappa 60.CS component speakers, 2 mtx amps, and 1 custom fit mtx enclosure w/subwoofer installed. Everything is new except for 2 of the 4 component speakers.

When the volume is low, I can hear a soft buzzing noise that wasn’t there when the factory system was installed. I also hear a slight pop or click in the speakers when I step on the brake. What is causing this feedback into the system and is it something that is just not avoidable with after market equipment?
I didn’t install it – it was done professionally. I paid $ 1500 for it all.

It’s normal if you’re listening to the radio, but not if you’re listening to CDs.

Built in HD Radio Tuner
HD Radio technology allows CD-quality digital broadcasting of your local AM and FM radio stations. Here is the equipment I have:
PIONEER 2900 in-dash unit
Jensen JPA460 Amp
2 front speakers + 2 rear speakers + 1 subwoofer
1 subwoofer amp (I forget the brand).

I am having trouble setting this up because the Jensen amp only has a front speaker and rear speaker input, but nothing for a subwoofer.

How do I hook it up so that all 4 speakers + subwoofer will work?

you have to get some “Y” rca adapters to split your rca cable into 3. If your 2900 has front and rear outputs then you only need to split the rear rca cables to share with your jensen 460 and your bass amp. Y Y ——- y adapters

I have an ’03 Acura TL Type-S with a JL Audio 13W7, JL 1000/1, and a Jensen VM9312 running off of a standard/basic battery up front. If not the car audio specific battery shouldn’t just a yellow top or red top do it?

I would recommend getting a capacitor, and possibly looking to see if you can get a stronger alternator. Upgrading your battery will be a good idea too, but I don’t think it will solve the problem completely.
