high end car audio-how to wire my car audio system?

Hi, I have 2 Lanzar Optidrive 15′ 1533D subwoofers (6000 peak & 3000 rms each) and 2 Planet Audio BB2 amplifiers (3000 peak & 2400 rms each). Which way should I wire my sub box to get more bass and performance from the amp and woofer? Should I go series, parallel, or series parallel? I need of help please. Open to any and all advice. THX IN ADVANCE

This is tough because those subs are dual voice coil and each voice coil is 1.2 ohms making each sub capable of either .6 ohms in parallel or 2.4 ohms in series. The question is….is the planet audio amp capable of that low of a ohm. I think they are only stable at 1 ohm. If this is true then your safest option is to wire the sub in series. But if the amp can handle .5ohm then parallel.

Im not sure but I think planet audio amps are over rated and do not put out actual power its rated for. I dont think they are CEA compliant but not sure

If it can run at .5 ohms then I suggest you install a couple of external 12 volt cooling fans to help keep your amps cool as possible. Heat is going to be your biggest enemy with that much power.

Also are you gonna upgrade your alternator or your whole electrical system for that matter. What your wanting to install is competition grade install. Extrs batteries,alternator and wire upgrade and most likely dual alternators if your gonna run a true 6000 watts. With5000 watts your looking at approximately 350 to 365 amps of draw depending on your overall voltage. If u achieve at least 14.4 volts then your looking at 347amps plus your existing electrical components.

Ok, so I am about to buy a NEW LANZAR VIBE256 1600watt 2 CHANNEL CAR AMPLIFIER AMP
and hook it into 2 NEW LANZAR 3200 WATT CAR AUDIO SUB SUBWOOFERS FOR AMP.

With these subs work with this high powered amp? And if so how well will it sound, haha

hey i have 1997 lincoln town car that I am fixing together, i had bought a lanzar system before but alot of people said that they were not that good so im lookin for a new system, I want 15″ subs though and I want them to hit hard bass wise and have great sound quality, Im thinkin bout gettin kickers but im also lookin at other good brands, what system do yall think would be best to have my car hittin hard down the street and have great sound, also would I need to upgrade the alternator and battery or could I just use caps and that take care of everything, and also I dont want my rattling when the bass hits too hard, I want it to hit hard, crisp and heavy, so I was thinkin bout alignin rolled up shirts along the edge of the trunk to keep the trunk from rattling, is this a good idea? or is there other ways to do this? thanks in advance

Bass on a budget…my suggestions are Hifonics amps and for cheap subs with the most quality I think you will find kicker is one of the best especially for 15″s.You will have plenty of room for some 15″s in the lincoln so make sure you get a box for the specs of the subs. There are plenty of other brands, and yes lanzar is not that good,lol. there are a million brands and options to go with just find whats right for you and your budget, research the subs before purchasing, watch you-tube vids and read comments on quality of that particular line of audio.Shirts along the trunk is probably not a good idea,lol, although it would probably stop the rattling temporarily. There is a product called dyna-mate not sure if I spelled that right but its a sound deadening product, that comes in rolls and works kinda like a sticker ,that is exactly what you need. hope this helps.

This is 250$ of hardwork, great customer service, and quality building. Its a 1200 watt rms amp that is underated meaning its actually puts out around 1490 watts rms.

Get two of these amp to power two of those diamond subs and 1 lanzar sub. Make sure you have a good electrical cause this amp is a beast and will dim your lights on stock elec.

As a general rule of thumb, I try to stay away from off brands, but my girlfriend just bought a new car, and it has a BOSE speaker system, but she keeps complaining that the subwoofer installed in the car doesn’t do anything, so I was going to put in a 15” to fill in the sound. (there’s plenty of mid-bass, just nothing below like 40hz). She wants cheap, and I’m looking at Lanzar, because I know they make relatively cheap products, but does anyone know how their 15” sounds?

they distort as i expected them too. if i were you and was going super cheap, i would look on ebay, for kenwood or pioneer. even go into best buy and see if they have any returned items. i would stay away from Lanzer, unless she likes distortion.

ok i have this lanzar amp and i have used it for quite a wile and it worked perfectly then i got this JL Audio 750/1 HD and i hooked it up and got nothing out of it so now i hooked up my lanzar again (i know how to hook audio up just don’t know Technical problems so its not the wiring (i think i did check)) and now when i turn on my Stereo my subs (one 12″ JL W3V3 and a 12″ Rockford Fosgate) they make a noise that gets louder till the light in my truck dims to a certin pointcertainit stops for a second and then repeats the sound and dimming of the lights again. its weird it worked perfectly b4 now it doesnt work y is this? if someone knows what is wrong please dont hesitate to say something and i can talk to you

Hi, I am going to setup a car audio system and i already have:
2 250w front 6.5″ speakers

and I am planning to get:
2 LANZAR VW104 which are 600w RMS each

and possibly 2 more 6×9 speakers…

But i was wondering what kind of amp i should get? should i get an 600w or a 1200w amp… or can an amp even support 6 different speakers? I’m new to all of this, I’m 16 and just starting to customize my 02 Neon

u didn;t give rms figures on the speakers, not sure what they are. need to match rms.
honestly focus on a great pair of front speakers and sub, rear speakers are just filller sound, stock is usually ok. u can do better on the subs. for the money u pay for power on an amp better used on better subs. my new set up is more tame at 200w rms to the sub, jl w0 and sounds cleaner and richer than my friend’s cheap 500wrms set up.

that is a GREAT setup, although i would go with cvx’s, not l7′s. round subs have more efficient sound waves. anyways, lanzar vibe is the amp i have, and i think that it is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is all well worth it. hope i helped.

Note: I am trying to get amazing stereo soundstage and imaging in my car. I currently have a pretty good subwoofer system but it is somewhat “bassy” for my car right now and distorts out some of the higher notes from my cheap speakers in the front and rear departments.

I am looking at buying and installing the following:
-A pair of 6.5″ Lanzar OPTI6.1 component speakers for the front
-A pair of 6.5″ Lanzar OPTI64 midbass speakers for the rear
-2 13″ JL Audio 13W3v3-4 subwoofers in the trunk
-1 Alpine PDX-1.1000 amplifier powering the 2 subs
-2 Alpine PDX-2.150 amplifiers power the speakers (1 amp for the front, 1 for the rear)

I will have the subwoofer amplifier pushing 1000 watts rms @ 2 ohms.
I will decrease the wattage going to each speaker down to 125 watts rms.
And I will also be tuning the system to the following:
-Tweeters: 3000hz-higher
-Front woofers: 250hz-3000hz
-Rear woofers: 100hz-250hz
-Subwoofers: 100hz-lower

Will this system have good stereo imaging and soundstage? What can I expect from this system?
I’ve yet to give Lanzar a try. The main reason I’m wanting to go with them is because they can handle a lot and are pretty inexpensive.

Car audio in my home.

This is my shop music source. Its one old lanzar pro 12 in a sealed box with a dual cd player and two dual 6.5 coaxial speakers. Its a good setup for when i’m building sub boxes!!! have a 120 to 12 volt converter to run the jvc 4 ch amp and cd the 4 ch is running the sub. The amp is a 400 watt max amp but sounds good. The speakers are run off the front 2 ch of the cd player. Nothing crazy but sounds good.

legacy, pryamid, and pyle imo are one of the worst. out of that list…i’d go with MA audio hands down. XXX? never heard of em, unless it’s the sub from RE audio, if so then that. if not, then MA audio. only brand on that list that i’d buy

I have two 15inch Audiopipe Eye Candy subwoofers in a 1968 chevelle.

2000 watts max (1000 RMS)

Each are dual two ohm.

I have a 4000 Watt 2-Channel Lanzar amp right now pushing them which I know is a cheap amp that puts out nothing compared to what it says, but I needed something quick. It actually does hit amazingly hard. I participate frequently in competitions so I know what I am up against and what I have.

Now I am looking for something a little more expensive and beastly.

Any ideas.

I also have a Optima Yellow Top battery but no Capacitor. That is next on the list though.

any ideas on a cap, and amp?

Well, that Lanzar isn’t able to push it’s full power because you have dual 2ohm subs. With these subs, you can ONLY wire them 8ohm bridged OR 4ohm stereo (either way, you’re only getting half-power from the amp).

You’ll need a mono (1 channel) amp that puts out about 2000watts RMS @ 2ohms and wire the subs like this;

The amp’ll need to be CEA compliant. This ensures it puts out what it claims.

Look into PhoenixGold, PlanetAudio, or even HiFonics for a nice bang for the buck amp. You may even find a Kicker or Alpine on sale.

As for cRapacitors, forget them. They only place more stress on your alternator as it is just another thing it’s gotta keep charged (along with cars’ electronics, battery, and the amp).

After the Big3 (actually, before) you should look into a HO (high output) alternator. With a 68′ Chevelle, you can find them really easily. You’ll need about a 200amp HO alternator, unless you can find a larger one.

Also after the Big3 (and alternator) upgrade, get a Red Top. They are much better than Yellow Tops for car audio.

First you need to find out the REAL watts your amp is,
but more importantly, what the fuse rating is for your amp.
Then you’ll get an idea of how many amps you need.

PEAK can mean anything,

Last time I was in the world of computer customization, which was a while back, they were just coming out with 1kw PSUs. not sure if they are coming out with 4kw PSUs yet.

O.k. so here’s the deal, I just bought 2 10″ mtx subs and a Lanzar amp for 150$ (yeah i think thats a good deal). I have a 2002 Ranger. I’m curious what i should do to protect my truck’s alternator and battery?? The amp has a max output of 900 watts, 250 rms x 2. I don’t want my lights to dim, wear out alt., battery or any of that nonsense, so… should I leave the system alone? is that enough to make a difference? Use a farad capacitor?(and how big of one?), I don’t know what route to take, any advice would be very helpful!! thanks

i have a 98 ford explorer. stock alt. die hard battery. a 800 watt rms fosgate mono amp. 8ga power and ground. and one 10″ memphis. the only time my battery dies is if i let it play for about 30 mins or so. you should be ok. but if your afraid of something happning to your car and you have close to hundred bucks to pop out then get a cap. but i dont think you’ll need one. also i have 4 6″ kc lights and 2 walmart fog lights all going to the battery and my cd player is wired to the fused box.
