I have an old front-loader/head unit (going to upgrade soon) but i want to use it till i get new one so my question is.the head unit is 4ohm(so i think) and i recently bought an amp(i’m new at this but wiring and everything is sorted) that is 2ohm stable and subwoofer is 2ohm and 4ohm.when i plug my rca from my head unit to my amp there’s no sound.but when i connect my setup to my friends head unit.it plays.so is it the head unit not being able to play 2ohm or can both rca(front and rear) outputs be blown?tried diff rca cables on 2ohm amp and no sound and when i try a diff amp it that is 2ohm and 4ohm theres sound

I have a 1996 Honda accord LX and i have bought a panasonic cq-c7301u faceplate for it. I wanted to buy some new speakers for the car, but dont really want to invest in an amp, jus tnew front and back shelf speakers. I want to be able to have some good sound as well. If i have to i guess i will get an amp, but i wanted to install the speakers myself and it seems complicated to install an amp and make sure everyhting works right. Should i get Panasonic speakers as well wince i have a panasonic faceplate?

dont get panasonic speakers….go with either jl audio, mb quart or pioneer….it will always sound louder and have more clarity if u have a amp on them

How do I get to the back of the unit? Do I have to take it out?

Shouldn’t there be a jack in the front?
If so, plug it in and select a source, if you can’t see it, you may not have an AUX input.
Try the back of the unit if you do not find it on the front.

got a 95 honda civic and i was wondering how many watts the factory Speaker have? I want to upgrade the factory radio/Cassette w/ something that has a CD play. I got a free Panasonic 50w X 4. I was wondering if i should upgrade the speakers? I was thinking about just putting in the Panasonic and upgrading the speakers to somthing better if need be.

look at it this way: your deck puts out about 18-20 watts RMS to each speaker probably, so you would never NEED to upgrade your speakers.

However, new speakers would provide you with MUCH better sound quality and you would no doubt be very happy with them. Even cheap sony speakers would give you a much better experience than stock ones.

I’ve got a 1.0E VW Lupo completely standard. I’ve ordered some meaty wheel trims and I might get some coilovers when my bank lets me!

The car came with a panasonic player and I was really wanting to wire up a sub. The boot in the lupo is absolutely tiny so I can only really get away with a 10″ sub.

Will I be able to just wire it all up to the standard speakers I have?
Do I need an amp?

I’m not to good on the ICE bit as you can tell!

You need an amp. The only way you can get away with wiring it to your standard speakers is if you buy a sub package that has a built-in amp. The amp will get power from your battery, and its signal from your speakers.

My new head unit. Normally 9CAD, i paid 9! Its ok for an entry lever DVD deck. My only complaints is that it comes with no remote and it only has 2 volt pre-outs… so weak! I also wish it opened faster and didn’t have that annoying warning message (which cannot be turned off) every time the screen is opened. I have it connected to my nokia n82 with the video cable to display GPS and play videos and mp3s

Panasonic head unit won’t power on, for the past few days it wouldn’t turn on and I figured I’d check the fuse first, but I don’t know where it is. I took the face place off but I figure it’s behind the whole unit? How do I get it out to change the fuse?

P.S. I’m a 17 year old girl and I’d rather do it myself then taking it to audio express, etc.
It’s a Panasonic CQ-DF66 on a 1992 Toyota MR2. I did not install it myself, I believe my older brother did. I haven’t messed with anything except the face plate and I doubt my brother messed with anything either, he’s good with cars. Too bad he doesn’t live with me!

Hey everyone…

I live South Korea… I just bought a Renault-Samsung 2011 SM5…
However I did not choose the Bose audio option… [BIG REGRETS]
and I really really am disappointed with the stock panasonic sound system.

The bass and power overall is just a major disappointment.

With that said…
I went to the Car Audio store and asked what my options were.. without spending a boat load of money on custom car audio equipment & installation..

*important note*
I dont want to redo the whole system with amplifiers, speakers, woofers, etc…

I just want to make my system sound “stock Bose / JBL-ish*

I dont need a huge thumping system that will break my budget…

Anyways….
The Car Audio place after much thought… told me that installing a Preamp and connecting it to my stock headunit will improve the power and sound quality dramatically…..

Is this correct and can anyone confirm and give me their advice on if this is actually the best way to go???

It will just make it louder. You need quality speakers. Like 2ways and tweeters with subs or 3ways and 1ways with tweeters.

Red’Z Car Audio 2005 Honda Civic Ex

This is one of Red’Z Audio’s from the ground up projects. This car has a Panasonic DVD head unit and two Audiobahn 12′ sub woofers and a 2200 watt amp. We also installed air bags with FBSS and a lot of other accessories and still have a lot more work to do such as body kit, HID headlights, and much more.

OK so I’m looking at buying a car audio system but i don’t know much about anything.
So can somebody please tell me what i should be looking for when buying Subs or Speakers or an Amp.

so here’s what i got on my list so far, can someone please check this over.

no offense but not really much of a system, but hey we all have had to start somewhere, my opinion, id look on ebay and get a good deal on some used equipment, for a starter system i would not buy that new, if you look on ebay you could probably get just as good as that for about a third the price, do not buy shit from a audio store, for example at a local audio store where i live i couldve got a 1000 watt kicker zx for 800 dollars, got it on ebay brand new 260……..so on and so on

I have always been a big fan of 10 with a good amp and sealed box. If you have not upgraded the head unit yet doing so will drastically help factory speakers. Just make sure your box is built to spec for your woofer and go from there. Start from there then tune it out as you decide what does not sound right for your taste. A crossover will do amazing results for the factory speakers as far as tuning them out.

I am using 2 Sony Xplode XM-552zR 350w max power output amps.

2 12″ 1000W Peak Power Sony Xplode Subs.

Panasonic CQ-C3403W MP3/WMA/CD Player

2 6.5″ Panasonic speakers and 2 6×9 Panasonic speakers.

ALl new just have no idea how I can make the subs powered by the seperate amps.

Have I jumped into the water without knowing whats down therE?
Have two pre-outs, rear and front.

Check and see if your head unit has dual outputs or a subwoofer out on the back. Run one amp off the regular output and the other amp off the subswoofer or other output. Get a crossover, this will allow you to tune your system for optimum sound. Update: Just checked on panasonic website, you should have dual outputs so RCA cable from one to the first amp and ditto to the second one. Advice still stands on the crossover though.

I am getting two pairs of a/d/s/ 6.5″ speakers and an a/d/s/ amp. What would be worthy to put in the dash to play CDs and MP3s with this high end sound system? I will spend up to $ 1500 just for the player if it will really make a difference in sound quality.

Please don’t post info about alpine or panasonic stuff you bought at best buy or something like that. Audio enthusiasts only please.

Sony To Stop Making Car Electronics?

I just heard at work (Large Retail Store) that one of our installers here talked with another car stereo retail store and he heard that Panasonic and Sony were going stop making car audio. Panasonic has already stopped and Sony will stop manufacturing in the near future. Things like car stereos, amplifiers, subwoofers, and such.

Anyone hear anything about this? Is Sony going to stop making car audio?

I just called a friend at Sony and he informed me he has heard nothing of the sorts. It is possible but highly unlikely that your installer or his third party informant had more information on this than my buddy that works there but it is possible. As for Panasonic they still have car audio in full production.

Reality check – These are two huge powerhouse companies when it comes to entry level car audio. What reason would they have for stopping production? Car audio sales show the market is still there.

well first off if you have the speakers connected to your deck then maybe something internal blew so try to hook them up to a amp and see if th rca outputs still work this might be the easiest way out of this but if that dosent work and you have them connected to a amp already then check your wiring if all fails then if the product is still under warranty then you could send it in good luck bro

I think the best place to go would be the pawn shop, but I dont know where u live and all that jazz

17 watts rms isn’t much, and you may find your music distorting before you get it to the level you want
