I had first purchased the Clarion flip out version of this unit, but had problems with the right outputs. So I returned and purchased the MAX385 because i wanted to try to fit the double din. WELL….It looks great and DVD playback is really good. Also the sirius direct connect option is a must, and if you want minimal controls for your iPod, the interface for that is Ok at best. But like many others said the response time is horrible. Switching back and forth between sources is very very slow. My biggest problem recently is that the ipod connection is not linking with the video on my ipod. It constantly says “Waiting for iPod Video Signal.” so if you are planning on playing the video’s you have on your iPod, you might want to reconsider buying a unit that requires an iPod cable with a composite video cable on it as well. Another con is the non back-lit buttons. For around $300 it is one of the best Units you can buy… but if you can wait a little bit and save up, there are some upgraded versions of this Double din that you will probably more enjoy. I wish i would have waited…

Unit works great. Especially love the iPod interface–well done, Clarion. Audio (but not video) works w/ the iPhone 3G (except it doesn’t charge, but I blame Apple for that more than Clarion). Everything went pretty smooth except getting the control wire to the parking brake. That was a pain.

I was very Disappointed in the Clarion MAX385VD I thought Clarion was one of the best the picture when playing dvd’s was great sound is ok . But after 2 weeks the door got stuck and wouldnt open . There goes the CD I just brought money down the drain . I had to pay some one to install it and had to pay someone to uninstall it.I wont never buy Clarion again. this item adds great sound to your vehicle and the screen has great clarity. only down side is that the buttons on the sides do not illuminate. so it does not add to the dash illumination at night.

Got this double din system after my pioneer double din was stolen. Good sound quality, okay equalizer and sub settings, great picture and touch screen! Great DVD playback as well. Overall great head unit, background color change would make this unit better if it had. Also it could use a bit more equalizer settings. Have yet to use the ipod cord.
