I have an old cadillac 1990 and I had to replace all the stock speakers and the radio deck because it didn’t work. You should get a new radio deck and then they should have a rca out put to go to an amp and then to the sub. Hey all, ive just recently bought myself a car, and have put in a new JVC head unit running 50wx4 and some Sony Xplod 6.5″ speakers and tweeters up front. I am now looking at putting an old 10″ sub and a pair of old 6×9″ speakers in the rear, I was wondering what peoples recomendations on AMPS would be, and how much better off would i be if i was to buy new speakers and sub. my question is how will i get either amp to run @ 2ohms instead of 4ohms so that my sub is not underpowerd as ive been lead to believe this. is it safe to run my sub off this monoblock without underpowering it as my subs impedance is 4ohms can it be run at 2ohms? and how is this done? eventually i want to run all speakers off the amp as a 4 chanell and run my sub off the mono block.

my final question is: will my sub with an impedance of 4ohms be fine if the impedance is changed to 2ohms?

I have a JENSEN 300 WATT 2/1 Amplifier…..And I got it from my brother a WHILE ago for free. It sucks….right?

I have a very nice CD deck, a 450 dollar JVC one to be exact. And first of all, the deck isnt even picking up that I have subs….everything is plugged in right. Is it because the AMP is so old????

I need a new amp. How many watts should I get to power these 2 subs to their full potential. I havent heard them hit as hard as they should, right? Or are they just not that good of subs? Im going to get a new amp tonight…please help guys. I have very nice speakers as well. ! THANKS!

If your running Component spk’s then you need x-overs, but if you run coaxial spk’s then they have built in resisters so you really don’t need x-overs.

You need a 12 volt power supply to do it.

A head unit is fairly simple, since it doesn’t use all too much power, the power supply it needs is fairly small. I’ve even powered some off a salvaged power brick that used to go to a cordless phone (you know those power cords, with the huge brick on the plug end?) As long as it gives 12 volts DC, and at least an amp or so (1000mA or more), it should be adequate for anything but full volume output.

An amplifier is more difficult though…. they suck down a lot of amps of power, and a 12 volt DC power supply big enough to provide that kind of juice, is going to be expensive. They’re out there…. but I’d really recommend just buying a home theater amplifier/receiver…. it’ll be cheaper.

I recently bought a pair of Pyramid 15″ 800 watts subs(PW1577X)…and a pair of Pyle 6″/9″ 800 watts Speakers…All are of 4 ohm impedance…So which amplifier should I buy to run them??..I was thinking of a multi-Channel amplifier. But I dont know which one to buy…Can I simply buy a 3200 Watts Amplifier??or is there anything more I should Look into??

do not just buy a 3200 watt amp…..to get the most out of your system,you’ll want an amp for the subs and an amp for the 6 by 9′s.If you want bass :your gonna want a mono (one channel) amp for the subs or a 2 channel amp (bridged). now for the 6′s you’ll be fine with “any ol 2 channel amp” no more than 150 to 200 “TRUE” watts. As for the subs you would have to find out the TRUE wattage on the 15(pw1577x) I would guess no more than a TRUE 400 watts by 2 channel amp. bridged its 800 total watts. but a TRUE 3200 watt amp would melt all them speakers.

I want my passengers to be able to watch the DVD player while the car is driving, however Clarion has equipped the unit to have to be hooked up to the emergency brake in order to view the DVD’s. How can i bypass this idiotic safety feature?
