El Kameleon Control Panel
The single-din receiver’s 5.4″ ultra wide monitor is constructed with a high-resolution 192,000 pixel TFT panel capable of over thousands of display colors. This TFT panel can display aspect ratios up to 3:32:1 for a super-wide Cinemascope viewing experience. The ultra wide monitor can also display multimedia video and AV input content at the same time in split screen mode. The KD-AVX77 also boasts a wide viewing angle free of screen glares, making the monitor clearly visible from every angle. Another new feature is full touch screen capability, which allows the entire TFT panel to dual-task as the receiver”s control panel. This receiver also features a built-in electrostatic proximity sensor, which illuminates the screen when the user approaches it with their hand. Otherwise, it’s pitch black–El Kameleon.
Customizable Interface
The KD-AVX77 lets you make it your own by selecting touch-key layouts and designs, colors, and wallpaper. You can also upload a favorite JPEG picture to use as the wallpaper.
Built-in Bluetooth Wireless Technology
The KD-AVX77 features built-in Bluetooth for hands-free calling while driving. Phone calls can be made easily and received directly through the receiver, while voice recognition technology enables immediate dialing from the driver’s cell phone without the distraction of handling the phone while driving. Phonebook entries can be stored and accessed on the receiver and text message notification can also be displayed on-screen.
JVC also includes PBAP, or “Phonebook Access Profile” capability. This feature allows direct view and selection of phonebook entries without requiring any additional action or information transfer. PBAP also allows access to all phonebook entries, regardless of how many number entries are stored in the cell phone’s memory.
Bluetooth connectivity also allows music enthusiasts to listen to their favorite songs and artists wirelessly from iPod/iPhone, cell phone, or other Bluetooth enabled devices through the receiver.
CD and DVD Playback
Enjoy your favorite CDs or watch some video on DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW or VCDs. Use the gold-plated video output terminals to send video to a passenger screen.
AM/FM Radio
The KD-AVX77 features an AM/FM radio with standards like automatic presetting. You can also add SAT or HD radio with additional accessories.
GIGA MP3 MULTI–Play MP3, WMA, and WAV Files Burned on DVD
The KD-AVX77 features GIGA MP3 MULTI, which plays MP3, WMA, or WAV files burned on DVD. With MP3 and WMA files, the 4.7GB capacity of a DVD can store up to 2,500 songs on a single disc–equal to 250 pre-recorded CDs. If you want even more superior sound quality, WAV files can be burned onto a DVD. WAV is an uncompressed PC music file format that delivers CD-quality sound. A single DVD disc can store 100 WAV files–equal to 10 pre-recorded CDs. Now you can enjoy non-stop entertainment with CD-quality sound, without an additional CD changer.
USB Port
Stream WAV/MP3/WMA/AAC files from USB thumb drives and other devices via the included USB port.

I had this installed this weekend after buying it on Amazon.
I did not install an amp or any subs – just straight to my Infinity speakers. It sounds great.
I love the sound and I love the options of using DVD data discs, USB sticks, and Bluetooth from my iPhone. They were all flawless.
I could go on and on about what I love about this unit but it would be a rather large rambling of nonsense. I’m not an audiophile but I am a nerd and this really has a lot of nerd points.
I do have a few gripes that may I wish they would have thought out more. These are more “polish” than anything else really.
1. The fonts look cheap. I bought this on Amazon so I did not get a good idea what the fonts would look like. When I went to get it installed, I saw this deck next to an Alpine and immediately knew some corners were cut on the JVC. The fonts look like the kind you find on the menu screen of a cheap DVD player.
2. I would like the option of having the cover art expand to full screen. Also, I would like better wallpaper choices.
3. The unit can handle 5000 files per DVD or USB stick, which is quite a lot, but the displaying and searching for those songs is miserable. They give you a grid of 6 (3 wide 2 high) and you only get to see the first 15 characters of the file or folder names. They do have a scroll bar that lets you scroll to the next 6, but this gets old when you throw a few hundred folders on it.
4. It does not seem to handle playlists from DVD or USB. Maybe there is a filetype I am missing. The repeat and random functions are limited to tracks and folders so you may want to consider that when building out your play media instead of just copying a folder tree from your mp3 area.
5. This is what knocked it down from 4 to 3 stars for me. It has a 1s gap between mp3′s. Even when I go in and tell it not to display the tags or album art, there is still a gap. 1s is the minimum. It is sometimes slightly longer. If you ripped any CDs that were recorded without any gaps between songs, you may want to consider ripping the entire CD into one mp3. You won’t be able to jump tracks, but at least it will sound good. I haven’t tested it on the iPod/iPhone yet.

This unit has everything! It can play every format, from ipod, usb memory stick to mp3 cd’s and dvd’s even music streamed from your bluetooth phone. I bought this one because of the bluetooth for my BB Pearl. It worked well. It has a conecction for a camera to see the rear while your parking, It has a electrostatic sensor that turns on the display when you move your hand near the unit. The problem I had is that it has no volume knob, so try to pump up the volume while driving!! Its near imposible! I kept changing everything instead. But if you like to have the remote on your hand at all times it will help. So its impressive the Interface, and all the technology it packs but I missed the volume knob.

The head unit is really easy to install, if you install it yourself or have someone else put it in I would really suggest putting all your attachments, (i.e. Ipod AV wires, Sub wires etc) so you don’t have to pull the deck again.
Other than that it’s a hell of a great deck for any car!

This kameleon deck is freakin sweet! I just installed it, and I must say, I was very nervous because I have never even SEEN one operated in person. I looked on YouTube, etc. but nothing! Needless to say, works flawlessly, and does EVERYTHING I was looking for. For the 1st time, I did not have to compromise! 6 5v Preamps! Oh-Yea! And, ordering this through amazon was a very pleasant experience. If you have any doubts, but this deck! You won’t regret it!
