Okay, I’ve had the deck for about 2.5 years. Over the last 6 months or so it started to give problems similar to what another dude wrote about for the jvc-sh99.
Now a quick bit of history. I bought the deck almost exclusively to play mp3s and not so much for the radio functions etc… So in the course of a week the deck is probably on for about 3hrs a day for 7 days a week and of the those 21 hours it probably only ever plays the radio for about 2 hours max! So we are talking constant CD usage.
Problems first started with the deck refusing to play cd-rws. So I had to start burning all my mp3s to CD-R, cds are cheap so no biggy. I basically keep one in the deck for about a month anyway. Then it would quit playing mp3 CDs altogether and only play ordinary audio CDs. Once I reset it everything would work fine for a few weeks. But recently it has quit reading all CDs. Even after resetting the deck several times it decides on its own when it wants to play mp3 or even basic original audio CDs. Its past factory return so I’m clueless if this is a microcomputer/mechanism/lens issue. And yes, I’ve tried a few lens cleaning CDs ..it wont even recognise those either.
The other features are nice but my main fustration is the deck does not seem ready for persitent, constant CD use. I’m looking for something way more durable now.
