All of the other functions work well, however I can't seem to get my ipod's or iphone to function properly with this player. I am unsure as to if it is the cable itself or the unit. I purchased the JVC Ks-U30. When I hit the ipod button on the player, it does nothing. The ipod and iphone are detected as " usb" and I can't get the ipod to function once its plugged in. Also, sometimes my iphone says " iphone incompatible with accessory" and it will not work, yet at other times, it plugs in and says on the unit " restricted device" or even yet, the iphone will begin to play a song and then stop after a few seconds. There have also been a few times when I have plugged the ipod or iphone in, and it won't detect usb at all! When I put it into A/V mode when it is working, I can get the ipod and iphone to play through the unit, however can't use the functions of the player since it's not detecting it as an ipod/iphone. I am wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem? If you are looking for a player that uses the ipod or iphone capabilities, I would hold off on ordering this device until there are more reviews. I am going to try a new usb cord, as to maybe I received a faulty one. I will update as soon as I have more information.

Update! I bought a new usb cable and the player works perfectly! I must have received a faulty cable! I am changing this to 4 stars! I would give it 5, but I think they could have added some more background features, making you able to add your own pictures, etc. Also, when using bluetooth, it is staticy to the other caller, not sure if it is my iphone or the player, but just a minor issue.Rating: 3 / 5

I bought this player last week. Do a Google search and many sites say it can play divx. Well it can't and that just sucks.

The display does not show enough track information. I find myself struggling to find a song. With a 7" screen I cannot understand why you cannot display full song and artist information.

This could have been a fantastic product but again due to it being crippled software it's just not. Too bad :(
Pros
Installation was easy enough. This deck has a powerful pre out. Great for low frequencies. The bluetooth function is useful. Calls made through the deck is clear. Microphone works great. This deck lists all the music on the ipod as it is organsized on the ipod, and it works pretty quickly. Sound output is clear but needs some initial tweeking. GUI is ok.
Cons
Not alot of customizing options in terms of background and visualizations.
There isnt a totally smoothe transition of songs via the ipod when the crossover feature is enabled on the ipod
To get the proper balance of the music, alot of tweeking will have to be done, i'm not totally done wit that yet.
Cant cancel or end a call from the deck
No list of tuner stations available as there was with the avx800.

Overall, its a good deck.Rating: 4 / 5

I upgrageded from the avx800 model because it was not charging my 4th gen Ipod.

Pros

Installation was easy enough.

I purchased the AVX820 last night, and got it installed as soon as i got home. Everything went well, with the exception of the FM antenna. for some reason, the ground is backwards on the JVC... meaning, the metal sleeve of the antenna wire has to be wrapped in tape before its inserted in the female jack in the rear of the unit. only then it works, but most stations don't come in well!!! i've been fighting with this for a few hours now, and it works fine when i touch the antenna, but once i put the radio in it's place it doesn't work??? any ideas.

I didn't hook it up wrong, the previous radio (SONY) worked fine and so did the stock radio beforehand. I've installed many radios and never had ths issue before. Please let me me know if this radio has antenna issues, possibly shorter reception range then other radios??
