This unit sounds very good, better than several similarly-priced Kenwood units I’ve had over the years (KDC 1xx,2xx). I’d always assumed that all these similarly-priced ($90-$130) units sound the same (and I’m an audiophile, by the way): not true. And there’s the ability to customize the sound ad infinitum using the parametric equalizer. You also get a full-featured remote control. The radio reception is also better than what I heard from the Kenwood units (to which I’ll never go back). The volume control also has a nice reassuring (solid) feel to it.
A minor complaint is the absence of a carrying case for the detachable face plate.

It looks great and is very easy to use, even when driving. The functions are very intuitive although you should spend some time checking out the instruction booklet. The multicolor display looks even better at night. Great power and quality sound. I also recommend to get the ipod adapter in case you have an ipod. The only CON I have for it is that it does not include a case, so you struggle when you substract the detachable faceplate.
for the price I paid new, you simply cant beat this stereo. been going strong in my truck for yrs and hasnt ever given me a single problem. AWESOME sound and powers my amp/sub perfect ! Pioneer makes (in my opinion) the best car stereo’s (and maybe the best stereo’s overall, but Ive not heard enough pioneer home systems to really compare)
