Why Does My Car Radio Go Out At Random Times?

Question:
I know this is probably a stupid question, but at times, my car radio goes out and all I hear is static, on every station. Nothing is wrong with the antenna, or so it seems. I don’t know if it is the radio itself or the antenna, more likely the antenna, but what would be wrong? Anyone else share a similar issue? Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Did you ever take the radio out of the dash board? The connection from the antenna may not be completely plug into the back of the radio. Or there might be a short in the antenna wire itself.
Two words, Alien Abduction…
Not really, it is not normal for your radio to do that. Sounds like it could be the antenna or the radio or even the ground on the antenna. I would check the antenna for grounding and then if it isn’t that, disconnect the antenna wire and insert a coat hanger into the cable to see if you can keep the stations in tune.
Does this happen in tunnels and under bridges/freeway passes?
all of the above plus is your radio set for long distance or local?Could be worn out like mine.
